Time For Some R&R
This post was written by Fabio Calabria on April 17, 2009
This weekend it’s time for some forced rest as it is snowing here in Colorado and the forecast is for more of the same over the rest of the weekend. I am going to take the opportunity to have some time off the bike and relax a little. I have been keeping busy today doing some non bike related things that I needed to do and had been putting off for some time now. I got out of the house briefly today with Mike Lange to go and see my team mate Ian MacGregor who lives just down the road. On the way we managed to find some entertainment.
A car had slid down a ditch off the side of the road. On the way home me and Mike Lange got to watch the AAA truck pull it out. Mike was very keen to help out but the AAA guy had it all under control so we just watched.
Now I think its time for a mid afternoon nap. Maybe when I wake up it will have stopped snowing.

December Training Camp
This post was written by Fabio Calabria on December 16, 2008
Well I have successfully made it through another December training camp in Australia. This year I attended a camp held in Kiama on the New South Wales south coast. The camp was run over 5 days.
Kiama is 230km from my hometown of Canberra which made for a long day out in the sun riding there and back. Thankfully I had three days in between to “recover” training on the many climbs that run along the South East coast of Australia.
This year was the hardest camp that I can remember, probably due to the fact that I had only started training the week before. I could only watch as other riders raced up the climbs. I started to come good towards the end of the trip which was lucky as the last day was 230km into a headwind. The ride ended up taking 8.5 hours which was 1.5 more then the trip there. I stepped in the front door at home around 5pm after leaving at 7am.
8.5 hours gives you plenty of time to think about things like, what am I doing here, why aren’t I at home, who’s idea was this, maybe I should get an office job????
The camp was as always a good weekend away. It’s always nice to train on some different loops to keep your interest up. I have to thank Glenn Doney for inviting me along and once again running a fantastic camp.
Since the camp, I have been recovering from the ride home and I think that I have just started to come good. I had a good race on the weekend in Shepparton, Victoria coming in 3rd. So I guess it was all worth it in the end. Maybe I’ll put off the office job for a while yet.

Begining of season 09
This post was written by Fabio Calabria on November 30, 2008
Hello everyone I am Fabio Calabria, I am a 21 year old Australian with diabetes which makes riding for Team Type 1 special for me. The team’s goal is to spread awareness about type 1 diabetes. It is nice to be able to show other people with diabetes that anything is possible.
As many people may have read on the internet I will be returning to the USA to ride for Team Type 1 for a second season. But before I return I have a couple of months of training and catching up with mates down under.
Stay tuned for in a couple of days I will have some stories from my first training camp of the season on the sunny coast of Eastern Australia.
Fabio
