Prattsburgh Rambler

This post was written by Jason Hilimire on April 26, 2009

Just finished up one of my favorite races of the season. The Ramble Around Prattsburgh. A super fun, 30 mile dirt road race. Some good climbs and some good fast descents.

Happy with my 3rd place finish overall. 30 miles is a little on the short end for myself being as I’m more focused on the 100 mile/enduro mtb stuff.

We had a single rider dangling off the front and I gave chase with a small group attempting to bridge. It’s not too often that a race shatters on a descent, but with all of us in the front group on cross bikes it was bound to happen.

Check me out ripping the descent on my cross bike

Catching Up…

This post was written by Jason Hilimire on February 7, 2009

So, appears It’s been a bit since I blogged here, not to say that I haven’t been busy. The past month has been full of the normal day to day activities. Work/ride/sleep. A bit boring especially in the off-season, as you’re usually too fatigued to really want to focus on doing anything else, cycling isn’t all glamourous. But, then we do this for fun or we’d never be doing it in the first place right?

Last week, I spent back home in NY with my fiance and her 4 yr old son, Lake. She had torn her shoulder in a fall and needed surgery. So I flew home and helped out, and as a bonus got to spend some extra time with her and Lake. Since NY is buried under a few feet of snow, decided to take Lake sledding one day. Trudging up and down a snow packed hill all day, and bombing down; that counts as training right? It sure as hell felt like it. Needless to say, sledding with a 4yr old is quickly over, when your run them over with the sled. NO! it wasn’t on purpose, he’s pretty lighweight and bounced right out of the front of the sled when we were riding double. I tried not to laugh while he cried (he wasn’t hurt, just got snow on his face and he hates snow!). Looking back, though I had a great week at home and miss them every day.

On to the bike stuff….

Weather in Boulder when I returned was incredible. What else to do but pull out the mountain bike and head over to Heil/Hall Ranch, and rip some singletrack in shorts!

I have a great video of the Hall Ranch descent here:

Heil Ranch and a Wildfire in Boulder

This post was written by Jason Hilimire on January 8, 2009

I just got back into Boulder a few days ago after the holidaze. It was a long trek from back east, 32+ hours in the car. Luckily this time the weather was cooperative and no white-out conditions to deal with.

Santa was kind to me this year. Got a new vholdr camera and a new digital camera. Means I can now take some great pics with the dig and get some sweet on bike video with the vholdr.

Go Here for some video of the new Picture Rock Trail at Heil Ranch (seems I can’t embed my link for the vimeo video any help??)

Yesterday I hit Heil ranch back up again (because of the crazy high winds)…

An Introduction

This post was written by Jason Hilimire on December 29, 2008

I thought, I would start my first post off with a simple introduction of myself and who I am.

I race for the Gary Fisher 29er Crew and my primary focus is on the long distance endurance mountain bike racing. Particularly for the 2009 Season will be the National Ultra-Endurance Series, and my favorite hometown race; The Hardcore 24.

Ready for the descent
